Boy Band. "Palms Springs Basic's" style is carefree yet groomed.


"The Lee" is a short cropped cut with sufficient length at front to allow for a little hair play.


Papito! "The Waves" style is the equivalent of Farrah Fawcett hair for men. Sexy, windblown style for the leading man.


Más macho. "The Alejandro" style is an on trend look with undercut sides and a longer crown, combed back.

Fierce and Foxy

Julian S. Kalinowski's new line of dolls, the S-Girls, have loads of fun modeling very cool couture. For this mid-October Dolldom entry, black versions of Sylvain and Stella pay homage to Jack Hill's Foxy Brown in luxurious pantsuits created by the talented Clare Duncan of Clare's Couture. Located in Brisbane, Australia, Ms. Duncan's  designs are genuine one-of-a-kind as she conceives, creates and stitches each outfits herself.  Ms. Duncan has always enjoyed the company of Barbie dolls and her fascination with their world of miniaturized fashion has never diminished. Kitchen Cabaret: Find Out What’s Cooking with Julian Kalinowski’s S-Girls

Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome! 

It’s show time, ladies and gentlemen. And British doll maker Julian S. Kalinowski has quite the surprise for us waiting from behind the red velvet curtains. For his new line of hard plastic hand painted dolls, named the S-Girls, features three different face sculpts creating three distinct characters whose names all begin with S: Sable, Stella, and Sylvain. With them, Mr. Kalinowski, whose Séverine doll is now sold out and becoming much sought after in the secondary market, continues to prove that there is a whole sea of possibilities, completely unexplored, to express via dolls. 

But who are these women? Well, just like a master chef who knows who to marry the right herbs and spices to create a perfect sauce, Mr. Kalinowski has concocted a complimentary trio of sweet and savory personalities. But these characters transform via hand painting and are never one and the same. The Julian Kalinowski doll is always a OOAK creature as the artist works on each separately and never following a set face-up design. Each doll contains the essence of the moment in which the artist conceptualized and realized her. 

Mr. Kalinowski's dolls speak about being imperfect creatures with vices, virtues, disillusions and dreams, and as such, they show it in their unique hard vinyl selves. Join Sable, Sylvain, and Stella as they enact favorite fantasy scenarios- some sweet, some spicy, but none ever bland - all played out in their vintage eat-in kitchen. It’s the perfect recipe for fun.

3-D Wigstock

Joey Versaw's Mary Magpie, the very first 3-D printed fashion doll, invited Dolldom to her wig shop. Mary is known for always being perfectly groomed and for being the only fashion model in the world whose hair stays in place during photo sessions. For her wigs, like her, are 3-D printed too and hand painted by Mr. Versaw to complement the specific make-up palette of his dolls.


Dolldom was in awe of the displays. Marta Wigstand models a Waves wig in sunny blonde.


A Magpie wigstand wears a classic Bob in black.


This Bettie wig in Mr. Versaw's signature yellow blonde tempted Mary so much that she decided to model it.


Mary is a blonde!


The Bettie wig in a deep red wine shade is the definition of seductive.


Mary modeled the style in a deep dark chocolate...


and then in a milk chocolate shade.


But then there was blue! Indigo blue!


And Mary modeled it too.

Molded Models

Séverine, the iconic OOAK vintage doll by Julian Kalinowski, wondered what it would feel like to have molded hairstyles. Luckily, her friend, 1963 American Character Popi doll, the pop-apart fashion model doll, lent her hers! The looks, well, pop out of the ordinary. Vive la différence!

Barbie and Bakh Tier

The recent revision of the Silkstone Barbie Fashion Model Collection dolls with it's new articulated body and slightly altered body dimensions inspired Dolldom to revisit an old friend: Russian artist and designer Bakh Tier, featured in 2011 in an issue of Haute Doll magazine.

Bakh Tier's vision presents an exciting and daring fashion future for today. Beguilingly minimal and masterfully cut and constructed, the Bakhtiër garment features architectural elements that echo man’s desire to challenge gravity. Yet, with a single turn, the Bakhtiër fashion transforms and surprises us with its organic softness in its evocation of nature.

In this exclusive entry, Portuguese and French convention souvenir Classic Black Dress Barbie dolls model once again the sensational designs of Bakh Tier.

I Will Never Meet You

Because I will never be.


I'm one of five prototype dolls.


My creator, Julian Kalinowski, made me but, alas...


I am an aborted project. I'm I Will Never Meet You doll. I will forever remain in my maker's custody.

Nonetheless, Dolldom, thanks to Mr. Kalinowski's graciousness, is lucky to present its readers an exclusive portfolio of two of the five prototypes in colorful fashions.  Mr. Kalinowski has assured us too that this strong character sculpt will reappear - redux - in an upcoming line of hand painted dolls. Dolldom celebrates already in anticipation.
