Having seen the fabulous 3-D printed, airbrushed wigs made for the 1/4 scale dolls, Séverine, the iconic doll by Julian S. Kalinowski, asked her dear friend LizRetros for a little pick me up. And the ever-generous LizRetros was happy to oblige not only with an enviable wardrobe of always-perfectly-coiffed wigs in luscious colors but with sensational 3-D printed and hand-decorated sunglasses and a fit-to-impact halter cocktail dress in vintage knit.

It's accessory time! Nothing makes a favorite fashion even more favorite than the addition of carefully chosen accessories. LizRetros, creator of exuberant B&G (as in beauty and glamour) for the uninitiated), presents a new line of eye wear and bags sure to add allure to your classics.

The new line combines the very best of handmade with 3-D printing technology to produce bags constructed and finished by hand containing evocative 3-D printed motifs. The eye weat designs are also 3-D printed (as seen on Dolldom's previous post Visual Literacy) and then finished by hand with crystals and glitter galore.

Mel Odom's Gene Marshall and friends, as produced by JAMIEShow were elated to join Hollywood's sensation and Dolldom darling Gay Carrington as models for this colorfully fun entry.

Peel Me a Grape

Joey Versaw's fantastic Mary Magpie is ready for spring. The ever-creative Mr. Versaw has created a new version of ultra limited edition dolls for 2017, one of which is "Up in Smoke" Mary Magpie.



Meant to evoke the style of vintage boudoir dolls from the 1920-30s, Mary exudes the attitude of a seasoned diva in her sparkly strapless jumpsuit and platinum tresses.





Mary Magpie, the world's first-ever 3-D printed fashion doll, continues to redefine what a fashion doll can do.

3-D Wigstock

Joey Versaw's Mary Magpie, the very first 3-D printed fashion doll, invited Dolldom to her wig shop. Mary is known for always being perfectly groomed and for being the only fashion model in the world whose hair stays in place during photo sessions. For her wigs, like her, are 3-D printed too and hand painted by Mr. Versaw to complement the specific make-up palette of his dolls.


Dolldom was in awe of the displays. Marta Wigstand models a Waves wig in sunny blonde.


A Magpie wigstand wears a classic Bob in black.


This Bettie wig in Mr. Versaw's signature yellow blonde tempted Mary so much that she decided to model it.


Mary is a blonde!


The Bettie wig in a deep red wine shade is the definition of seductive.


Mary modeled the style in a deep dark chocolate...


and then in a milk chocolate shade.


But then there was blue! Indigo blue!


And Mary modeled it too.


As we exited we noticed yet another wonderful style beckoning us to return to Mary Magpie's wig shop very soon.

Bodacious Babette

It all started a few years back: Bulgarian artist Brani Mladenov and American doll maker Joey Versaw came up with an idea for a new doll character with a full-figured body and a treasure trove of attitude. Both were inspired by the aesthetic of antique French and German bisque dolls yet wanted her to have a modern touch and, above all, a realistic full-figured ball-jointed body.

As ideas congealed, a hardworking gal emerged. The yet-to-be-named lady would be a nurse by daytime and a burlesque star at night - a fact that would allow her to lead a life of purpose and then indulge in over-the-top glamour. And shortly thereafter, Mr. Versaw and Mr. Mladenov came up with her name: Babette. An homage to a character in Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure, a 1977 American live action and animated musical fantasy film directed by Richard Williams, Babette is a French doll known for being stubborn, gorgeous, strong, and somewhat bratty.

Once the name and the character of this new lady were set, Mr. Versaw worked on her sculpt while Mr. Mladenov conceived the visual brand. For her first appearance in 2016, the artists wanted to imbue her with the essence of 1930s, mirroring the strength and glamour of the famous ladies of The Silver Screen such as Mae West and Katherine Hepburn, women who broke societal mores, captivated their audiences and paved the road for women's rights. Babette is meant to honor this legacy.

Babette, like her predecessor Mary Magpie, is made of laser-sintered nylon plastic. Her wigs are molded (as well as digitally-printed too) to ensure that she will never have a stray hair strand. Each doll is hand painted and then hand assembled by Mr. Versaw.
