Human

Under the careful management of George González, the JAMIEshow Muses line features a handsome cast of coded-as-male, 1:6th scale, BJD characters made of beautifully matte resin and subtly hand painted countenances.

Dolldom appreciates the attention to detail both anatomical as well as structural that allows for a doll unlike any other in that scale in the market. The fashions offered by the company focus lavishly on the fantasy of current trends, but, luckily, the sobriety of a well-cut black suit has occurred twice since the line's inception. It is in this style, refreshing with the absence of shirts and combined with complementary garments by The Confusion83 and Integrity Toy's Fashion Royalty, that Dolldom constructs this October entry. From suits to jackets to underwear, it's a tribute to the severity of the color of the night, for it is at nighttime and amongst the shadows, that the Muses by JAMIEShow express their willingness to engage in the emotional maelstrom of the ultimate human pursuit.

The Human League's 1986 hit and sempiternal classic, "Human", beautifully contextualizes this photo portfolio.

Come on, baby, dry your eyes.
Wipe your tears.
Never like to see you cry.
Won't you please forgive me?

I wouldn't ever try to hurt you,

I just needed someone to hold me,
To fill the void while you were gone,
To fill this space of emptiness.

I'm only human,

Of flesh and blood I'm made.
Human,
Born to make mistakes.

So many nights I longed to hold you,

So many times I looked and saw your face

Nothing could change the way I feel,

No one else could ever take your place.

I'm only human,

Of flesh and blood I'm made.

Human,
Born to make mistakes.
(I am just a man) Human
(Human) Please forgive me.

The tears I cry aren't tears of pain,
They're only to hide my guilt and shame.
I forgive you, now I ask the same of you,
While we were apart, I was human too!

(Human, human)

I'm only human,
Of flesh and blood I'm made
(I am just a man!)
Human,
Born to make mistakes.
(Human, human).

Mirror Man

A doll exists in as many contexts as there are those who collect them, for what the doll embodies in its vinyl, hard plastic, resin, or porcelain form mirrors diverse dynamic mindsets.

Integrity Toys' "Art of Manliness" Darius Reid, from the company's recent Live from Fashion Week 2019 Convention, is an ideal example. Out of his well-tailored pink suit with matching fedora, this new iteration of the famed Darius character evokes - for Dolldom - the iconic models Derrick Cross and Ken Moody in Robert Mapplethorpe's photography.

In this exclusive portfolio, Darius is the essence of human beauty, as subjective as that claim is, not only for the remarkable outward forms but also for a perceived spiritual substance.

Afternoon Walk

Gum is one of Joey Versaw's many characters. When Dolldom first met Gum, Mr. Versaw was introducing his First Love line of male dolls and Gum was one of the members of the group. Dolldom's editors agreed that Gum had an uncanny resemblance to Fred Astaire. How could we not like him? A  3-D printed doll that evokes the ultimate form of male elegance is not a common occurrence.

For this late February entry, Gum models separates taken from several fashions designed for Fashion Royalty's male dolls. His boots are by Dragons in Dreams and his glasses are vintage Takara.  In his "Gable" wig, Gum is both classic yet modern, and of course sexy.

For more on Gum and his friends, visit Mr. Versaw's workshop - it's a place where creative freedom reigns supreme and high quality hand painted dolls are offered to discerning collectors.

Natural Man

Summertime... and the living is easy. Longer days and shorter eves, mostly warm, sometimes surprisingly cool, lead fashionable gentlemen outdoors to seek contact with the elements. Since in fashion as in nature, it's only the fittest who survive, these styles transform and adapt to meet the demands of any urban jungle.

Dynamite Girl's "All American" Auden is Dolldom's resident botanist. He heads out to classify ferns in a light wool vest and cuffed shorts and an off-white cotton short shirt.

For evening, Auden may button up, add a bow-tie and join his colleagues for shots of single malt whiskey at the local pub.

Summer is not the time to grow a beard.

A good haircut is de rigueur. No time to waste fixing one's locks.

The cordovan leather boots add a retro touch to the Auden's style and anticipate the look for fall footwear trends.

Darius Reid is Dolldom's resident ornithologist. As such he gets up at dawn and heads into the forest while the sun is waking up. To ward off the early morning chill, he wears his "High and Mighty" faux skin coat with satin lapels.

Once the sun begins to warm the land, Darius will study the flight patterns of hawks in well-fitted jeans and a cotton shirt with attached cravatte.

A shaven head benefits from protection from the sun. A cap is a good idea even amidst the branches of centenary redwoods.

As day turns to eve, Darius will meet a bird of beautiful plumage for dinner. Style and function is provided by these elegant two-tone lace-up shoes.
