Her Secret Garden

It's a secret enclave, the product of rêverie. "Onyx's" dreams...

It's a place to enjoy the scent of moss at dusk and to wear a palette of crimson, black, and white.

"Onyx", tall, dark and handsome, enters in the rainbow's most passionate hue. Tyler Wentworth's "Radical Red" is as rich a treasure of textures as the surrounding forest.

Lips red as blood shed by fingers pricked by a rose's thorns match both her dress and her most secret longings.

There, amidst the decaying chlorophyll of springs long past, "Onyx" glistens in a gown of a million and one pailletes, that just like a million and one tiny black scarabs, shine when touched by moonlight.

Her top hat means that there may be a formal affair happening tonight.

Midnight approaches. Time for rituals and ceremonies in "Basique Black" tunic and mermaid skirt.

Dawn arrives in a Maggy Rouff dress the color of bleached bone. Her patent leather boots provide ease of mounting and riding her steed. A playful plaid cap - why not? A gift from Dr. John Littlechap.

Time to retire  - midday approaches and with it the dappled intrusions of the sun. In her secret garden  "Onyx" will close her eyes and dream of dusk encased in the protective beauty of a spider's geometry.

Farewell, enchanted "Onyx".

Dressed to Kill

Dolldom enjoyed the visit of two sensational Superfrock creatures earlier this week and our photographers benefited from the opportunity to record the super lush togs that they would be wearing at the BHX Superfrock/Superdoll event in Beverly Hills.

Styled by owner and Dolldom friend Jeremy Austen, Solitaire and February - vinyl princesses of über glam- are ready to rock the catwalk.

It's time for maracas, mambo and a whole lot of cha-cha-chá. In a sea of Manhattans, Negronis, and Cuba Libres a spotlight shines on the stage. From behind cerise velvet curtains, Miss Abbé Lane emerges as Cugie gets the band going. Let the night be eternal when in the company of these two geniuses of song.

In 2012 Superdoll Collectables London launched the release of the Abbé Lane doll in Milan. It did not surprise Dolldodm that the creators of the Sybarites would choose the unforgettable-but-not-commonplace Miss Lane for their foray into the world of retro style. Released through Marl B, "Wolf Whistle" and "You, Devil, You" models boast a superb character sculpt with varying degrees of intensity in their gazes. Regardless of the style, each doll exudes sex-kitten magic and makes the heart skip a beat. To boot, photos of other mouth-watering one-of-a-kind dolls wearing Superdoll's vintage flavored couture fed Dolldom's desire to extend the fantasy evening with Cougat and Lane.

Much to Dolldom's luck, Miss Liz Cole, creator of Retros, was excited to create cha-cha dresses inspired by several of Miss Lane's record covers. The spiritual daughter of Monsieur Lesage and Betty Page, Miss Cole beaded five skin-tight wonders with her customary abandon, producing real tours de force of mambo style. Both Abbé Lane models were ecstatic to model them.

Dolldom wishes to thank Miss Cole for her creative genius as well as Marl Davidson, Franklin Lim-Liao, and Tommy Courtney for inspiring and supporting the production of this feature.

Soul Searching

What to be? Who to become? Do we even have the freedom to decide? Or is it destiny? Essential questions with which many - if not all fashion dolls- have to struggle. Am I the identity that was adjudicated at the moment of sketch or do I enjoy the freedom to seek my own? Katana by Superdoll came to Dolldom with her existential dilemma and we were all happy to support. For you see, Katana is a high fashion doll. A modern high fashion doll. And as much as Dolldom loves high fashion, we tend to move away from modern and edgy. So Katana, a beautifully arresting sculpt with a nose bridge of hyperbolic length, exquisitely deep philtrum, and seductive slanted eyes, embarked on a journey of soul searching. Who am I?

In Retros' Hawaiiana jumpsuit with palazzo pants, Katana starts to connect with her vintage self. Necklace by VJT Designs.

Perhaps a more mysterious approach in electric blue (also by Retros) will suit her silvery braided tresses better?

Katana is still not convinced. She poses beautifully, though, in the midst of her conundrum.

Country music maven? The Retros' day dress is surely unique, but is it really Katana? Necklace by Joy Jarred.

Who am I? Really, qui suis-je?

Perhaps a late 1960's fashion plate in Retros' salmon and gold brocade? Breathtaking she is, but still not her true self.

Reflecting. Delving deeply into her being to find her essence.

Et voilà.

In a stroke of genius, Katana slips into Superdoll's black-as-night silk satin separates and JAMIEshow's black sunglasses.

Katana becomes Tante Katana, beloved aunt to Viktor and Agnes Dreary.

Now the children of Dreary Manor finally have proper guidance in important subjects like self realization and fashion.
But something tells us that Katana will continue her search, perhaps after realizing the potential of hair play...
