The last time that Mel Odom's "Hollywood Canteen" Ivy Jordan produced by JAMIEshow Dolls visited Dolldom, the star of Monolithic Studios and gal pal to Miss Gene Marshall, portrayed the quintessential blonde glamour queen.



Today, Miss Jordan relishes modeling beautiful fashions chosen to complement her dark hair styles. For as Miss Jordan herself expressed: "Brunettes and redheads have as much fun, maybe even more than blondes! In all truth, the secret is a combination of character and wit." Dolldom could not agree more with Miss Jordan, whose stupendous face sculpt is one of Mel Odom's favorites. For Miss Jordan can remind us of the great Greta Garbo in one shot and of the energetic Rosalind Russell in another. And that ladies and gentleman is a gift that becomes evident in the accompanying portfolio. Quite a victory for dark hair shades!


In a dark brown "Violet" wig cap, Ivy Jordan models a Retros suit made with a vintage nubby knit and recycled fur. The dark hair brings out her glamorous blue eye shadow.

Mel Odom's Gene Marshall inhabits a richly detailed world. Miss Marshall revolutionized the fashion doll market in the mid 1990s with her larger size, abundantly accessorized fashions created with immense attention to detail, furniture, jewelry, and hat sets, even a gazebo. But in all truth, Miss Marshall's world is unmatched by the diverse number of friends and associates that share her adventures. One of these OOAK personalities is Ivy Jordan. Miss Jordan first came into the scene in Mr. Odom's beautiful Gene Marshall, Girl Star published by Hyperion Press. In this entertaining tome filled with illustrations by Mr. Odom and jaw-dropping photos by Steven Mays, a captivating illustration by Mr. Odom appeared - Ivy Jordan. Since then, collectors and fans of the Monolithic Studios gang had been clamoring for her realization in doll form.

And while Gene was being produced by Integrity Toys, the dream became reality. From her introduction:

"Meet Ivy Jordan, Gene Marshall’s wise-cracking best friend, always one with a punch-line or witty observation. A child of Hollywood with both of her parents in ‘the biz’. Ivy, or “Vee” as Gene nicknamed her, is Gene’s truest friend and closest ally in Hollywood. A character actress with an eye towards directing someday, Ivy Jordan is a girl to watch."

At the beginning of 2016, Miss Jordan made her reappearance after a brief hiatus this time in her JAMIEshow ball-jointed, smooth resin form. Needless to say, "Heart of Hollywood"  Ivy Jordan was an instant sell-out.

Dolldom ponders on the characters attributes that pull so adeptly at our collective heartstrings. Is it her more angular features? Her prominent nose? Her bedroom eyes? Or the fact that she is such a perfect recreation of Mr. Odom's artwork? What gives, really? Ivy Jordan is Ivy Jordan and she stands tall in this exclusive Dolldom feature.

Mel Odom and JAMIEshow are a wondrous team. The collaboration of these two great names in fashion doll history continue to expand the world of Gene Marshall in its ultimate resin incarnation. Hand painted faces combine with Old Hollywood styling and the results are stunning.

In this last post for the month of January, Dolldom profiles the inimitable Ivy Jordan in her "Heart of Gold" fashion. An unmistakable success of a total look, Miss Jordan is worth her weight in gold in this gorgeous lamé gown wand what has to be the most glamorous accessory this year: a golden turban.

Miss Jordan visited the Dolldom photo studios for a project soon to be revealed in the pages of Fashion Doll Quarterly and sat after hours for these exclusive portraits that we feel honored to share with you, dear readers.

The world of Gene Marshall continues to grow in beauty! Congratulations to Mr. Odom and JAMIEshow for another sensational achievement.

Dear Santa...

And so begin many letters this time of year. Children kindly asking Santa Claus for that desired toy that will make Christmas day truly special. Doll and toy collectors, regardless of their age, know this feeling very well for they derive the same pleasure and sense of amazement. Is it due to the fact that they maintain the inner child alive and well? Possibly.

As time passes and kids become more mesmerized by the digital world, one wonders if the children of the future will still long to take to bed a much yearned for plush dog or fall asleep anticipating a day devoted to dressing up their elegant new doll? Dolldom believes that they will, for it is impossible for humankind not to be seduced by the pleasures of that which is sensory, and most of all, tangible. At least, that is our hope.

To celebrate the season, Dolldom explores the tradition of writing to Santa Claus. Here's to all who wish!

Monolithic Studios' Holiday Soirée

It was an evening of stars...in the sky, as the rains stopped, and inside Studio A where Monolithic Studios' execs hosted their annual end-of-the-year bash to celebrate their top money making actors. Closed to the press, the party was meant to allow the merrymakers a relaxed time. Still, Dolldom brings you an exclusive portfolio of photos (taken by one of Cora Harper's undercover paparazzi) that captures the essence of the festive and glamorous mood.
