Ain't There Anyone Here for Love?

The film classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes has very few moments that do not qualify as exemplary moviemaking. One such scene is "Ain't There Anyone Here for Love?" in which Jane Russell steals the show. Surrounded by a bevy of brawny athletes, Russell reigns supreme as the strongest of them all in her black jumpsuit and flared jacket.

The unforgettable get-up, along with s second outfit from the movie were recently reproduced by D.A.E Originals for a very special and ultra limited Vivian the Miniquin doll and are currently available exclusively from Happily Ever After

Dolldom is happy to feature D.A.E's Vivian and Monty re-enacting some of the key moments of this most unforgettable musical number and movie. Vivian sports a vivid face-up and wig designed to channel Russell's amazing style. A brunette "Modern Dandy" Monty in a Chewin wig and orange square cut provides the beefcake.

For more information on Vivian visit Happily Ever After. Monty may be found at D.A.E Originals' site.

Summer Prep

It makes sense to invest in a pair of jeans and a good haircut - two essentials on which to build looks for this coming summer season. For this preview of male summer style, The Numina's Argent by sculptor extraordinaire Paul Pham models made-to-measure denim by the talented Chewin, along with two of his hard cap wigs, and necklaces by Joy Jarred.

A Brave, New, Non-Toxic World: The Numina's Argent

Last September 2018, The Numina's Discophelia event bore a rich harvest of photos on social media. Among the many reveals at the annual event, hosted by sculptor Paul Pham, were two new characters, the artist's first venture into the world of the doll-coded-as-male. And Dolldom took note. In fact, Dolldom went on high alert as it was - even in photos - palpable that the artist was not only making the ultimate accessory for his uniquely gorgeous and racially diverse female counterparts; these personnages, Aurum and Argent, were coming to life at a time when masculinity and femininity are being redefined by non-patriarchal standards and in the same way that gender binarism is no longer the norm.

And what are these new standards? We hope that any new standard is applicable to all human beings: empathy, patience, nurturing, attention to detail, spirituality. At the very least, these are the qualities with which The Numina's Argent is being gifted as he is welcomed to Dolldom. His face and body - his outward appearance - and what we as dollectors code by our own set of standards, will be perceived differently - just like beauty is the eye of the beholder. But as we continue to examine and explore the new options Argent will be our guide.

Argent's face (he identifies as male and his pronouns are he/him/his) has a special quality, perhaps what Susan Sontag calls "the haunting androgynous vacancy behind the perfect beauty of Greta Garbo." Depending on the angle, the identity reveals itself: deep in thought, solemn, intense. Argent has a mission and the agency to undertake a plan. His body is a sensitive examination of sinuous musculature developed via physical activity: "mens sana in corpore sano".

In this first feature, Argent takes the time to play basketball, to wear a skirt (a kilt is nothing but), and to show off the beauty of garments that have become part of the lexicon of universal fashion: classics that anyone can (and in Dolldom's view should) wear.

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

Options abound. Dolldom imagines that the handsome men of JAMIEshow will choose to spend the evening alone or in the company of a very special significant other reflecting on their accomplishments, their joys, and their sorrows. For another year ends and with it go many an memory of a life well lived. Whatever the mood, the men of JAMIEshow will be dressed to welcome in the new year in style. "2016, we are ready for you!" - they say in unison as they model the masculine designs of talented Ayal Armon for JAMIEshow Homme.

"On Michigan Avenue" Basic Alejandro selects a deep salmon linen jacket with high collar to ward off the ocean breeze chill as night falls. Black linen slacks anchor the look.

"Sharp Casual"

"On Michigan Avenue" Basic Tatum opts for a classic peacoat-inspired linen coat with metallic thread in a soothing cream color and a pewter mesh muscle top. The nautical feel is repeated by the classic black linen pants.

"Afternoon Stroll"

"Havana Nights" Basic Lee elects a more daring look - a cropped jacket in a luxurious mandarin color and salt and pepper tweed slacks. Hair styling by Chewin.

"Evening In"

Dolldom wishes you peace and health for 2016!

Styles by Chewin

Chewin Gallapa is first and foremost a doll collector. Known for his fantastic doll repaints, the artist has also created a solid reputation with his innovative hard cap wigs and highly detailed fashions for ball-jointed fashion dolls.

For this Dolldom feature, JAMIEShow's Havana Night's Lee and Alejandro model Chewin's well-tailored styles and perfectly fitted wigs in this mid-summer tribute to classic menswear.

Lee is styling in "Kemthong's" pinstripe lined cotton jacket and summer weight wool pants.

A cool light pink cotton shirt and red silk bow-tie complete the look.

Lee sports Chewin's "Spoke" wig in black.

Chewin's "Rung-Roht" fashion evokes fall with its subtle autumnal palette.

A black cotton knit vest may be worn also on its own with a pair of jeans.

Alejandro is even more handsome in Chewin's "Mai Khao" wig in black.
